Languedoc-Roussillon Train Stations and Rail Network
Having numerous assets is a great advantage for the Languedoc-Roussillon area. To boost tourism the region needs a good train network.
- The region boasts big cities as well as a number of medium-sized ones. The rail network is linking the region to the rest of France but also to Spain.
- Some figures: 240 trains each day, calling at 146 stations, 1,400 km of networks, 15,000 + passengers a day, 3,000 people working on the trains.
- Languedoc-Roussillon Line is a project aiming at linking Spain to France with a high-speed line allowing to link Paris to Spain really quickly. This means considerable amounts of money are being spent on this.
- 10 TER (regional express train) railcars made by Alstom Transport have also been ordered for 100 million euros. They will be added to the 30 TER railcars already in use in the region.
