Poitou-Charentes Travel by Sea
Leisure yachting is considered to be the nautical activity of the region with the biggest potential for development in future years. Indeed Rochefort, Royan or La Rochelle are famous for their harbours, and if you are keen on nautism and ancient boats, Rochefort and its Corderie Royale as well as its ancient ship restauration works are to visit.
This region is equipped with amazing infrastructures allowing diverse operations on boats of all shapes and sizes. Along with its beautiful beaches, its Aquitaine-like climate and sea, this is one of the reasons that make the region one of the most important nautical poles in France.
Poitou-Charentes has no direct ferry link but you can reach one in nearby Aquitaine to go to Spain or the UK. Many boating activities are therefore proposed as well as visits of islands or venues only accessible by sea.
